Products

Here are some excellent products that will allow you to get your protein requirements, exercise at home or while traveling, and knead out tight and sore muscles on your own.

I use these with nearly all of my clients.

——————————————————————————-

trueproteinTrueProtein.com – See my post on March 2 called “8-12 Inches“!

ONOptimum Nutrition Protein Powder – Also a quality brand of powder, this is basically a no-hastle, click-and-pay product. It also has different flavorings from Trueprotein. If you order from the site that is linked here, enter in “IanKayTraining” in the coupon code area for 5% off.

superbandsSuperbands- Most of you who have worked with me know how much I love these bands! You also know what versatile exercise tools they can be, and a couple of them can fit easily into a suitcase without taking up much space (I know, I took mine to India with me!) Usually one 1/2 inch band and one 1″ band is enough for a great travel workout. If you’re curious about how these work, shoot me an email!

the stickThe Stick – I like to think of The Stick as my quick “pain-troubleshooter”. It is used for self-massage on small areas around joints or along bigger swaths of muscle like in your legs.  I don’t know how many times I’ve seen minor joint pain disappear right after using The Stick for just a couple of minutes! There is also a travel-size version of this valuable piece of equipment.

foam rollerFoam Rollers – This does basically the same thing as The Stick, but it is larger and requires less of your own strength – your own bodyweight provides the pressure. The big advantage is that you can really get your entire back and gluteal area (that’s your butt), whereas The Stick requires another person for those spots. I recommend the 3′ long, 6″ round roller.

Schwinn Airdyne Bike – This is by far my favorite piece of  “cardio” equipment. To use the words of their own advertising: “Wind resistance is exponential, so the harder you pedal, the higher the resistance becomes. This naturally provides the right workout for both a novice exerciser and an elite athlete.” It also disallows slouching back (like on a recumbent bike) or doing the “computer-screen forward lean” posture which I see people do on other bikes, elipticals and even treadmills.

It’s also very light to transport and requires no electricity.

Most of my clients get “stuck” doing sprints on it… they LOVE it! (wink wink)
